How to brew sticky chai
Delicious and easy to make, enjoy all the health benefits of drinking sticky chai. Brewing your sticky chai at home is a cinch. Follow our simple steps below for the perfect brew every time:
- Combine 1 heaped tablespoon (or teaspoon if your sticky chai of choice is our Dandi Chai) with 1/3 cup of boiling water
- Gently heat 2/3 cup of milk of your choice (we suggest soy milk) on the stovetop
- Pour the heated milk into your teapot and steep for 2 minutes
- Strain into a cup and add sweetener, if desired
- Sit back and savour every sip
For extra zing, add a little fresh grated ginger to your sticky chai brew. You can experiment with milk alternatives, but our favourite is soy milk as the nutty flavour perfectly compliments the spices of our sticky chai blends. It’s hard to believe now, but back in 2002, chai was virtually unheard of in cafes. As a non-coffee drinker and chai addict, our founder and director, Caitlin West, set out on a mission to fill the gap and bring sticky chai to cafes around Melbourne. The original recipe Caitlin created back then is still used in today’s signature Calmer Chai blend and pays homage to the traditional masala chai that originated in India. Now, our sticky chai blends can be found on café menus throughout Melbourne and beyond plus we’ve added to our product offering over the years, bringing you delicious one-of-a-kind products and a diverse range of organic teas and tisanes.
